Should have been Disembarkation day - now Day at Sea #3 (Bonus Day #1)

Updated: Oct 19, 2022

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 2022 - Are you confused which day it is yet? No? We sure were by this point...

We woke up around 9:00 today.

After chatting, forming a plan, and getting ready we headed to Hero Zone to see the Incredi-Games. This is a 30 minute head to head competition that culminates with two teams with the fastest times over all the other head to head races taking each other on. It was fun to watch and a group of teen boys and group of young kids were in the final. I’m honestly not sure which one won but I think it was the teen boys by a hair.

After Incredi-Games, you could then go through the Incredi-Course if you wanted to (socks required). We chose not to do so. Instead, we headed to lunch in 1923. Pro Tip: If you plan to compete (or just want to try to get through the course more quickly), I highly recommend “grippy socks” like those you might get at SkyZone or those advertised as “non-skid”!

At 1923, we each got burgers (Kara added bacon) and fries. Kara had the pecan pie for dessert and I got the Molten Chocolate Lava Cake. (All that heaviness sat like lead balloons in our bellies.)

After lunch we returned to our stateroom to calculate new gratuities. (Disney Cruise Line was still only automatically charging gratuities as if this had been a 4 night cruise.) However, since the crew is still working and we’re still being served, we wanted to adjust ours accordingly.

Next we went down to Guest Services, where surprisingly there was (for a moment) no line. Apparently how we wanted to increased gratuities and split them (unevenly) across our accounts, as well as add Kara’s credit card and two gift cards, overwhelmed the crew members. Thus it took longer than it should have.

By this time we needed to head straight to Luna for the finale of Disney Uncharted Adventure, “The Battle for the Wishing Star”. This was an interactive, audience-participation culmination of the adventure. I won’t put any spoilers in there, and as much still love Midship Detective Agency on Disney Dream & Disney Fantasy, Disney Uncharted Adventure is a definite level up. This activity was just brought online a sailing or two prior to ours, and it was THE THING I was most looking forward to. Thus, I’m super happy it was available and is another way Disney Cruise Line keeps upping their game!

Then it was another break in the room, Gayle continuing to deal with a family issue back home, and getting ready for dinner. As we waited for the next Disney Cruise Line Trivia to start at 5pm, we saw the Disney Fantasy on our starboard side and Gayle popped next door to Luna where the new “Villians Game Nite” was premiering. (This seemed to be a pilot run, as this had not yet premiered on any of the other ships and no photos or video were permitted.)

As for Disney Cruise Line Trivia, all I will say is:

  • We earned a perfect score,

  • We went into a tiebreaker with another team, and

  • It seemed somewhat apparent they were accessing info on their phones.

Despite the photo above, I’m quite sure we’ve never gone to dinner as ANGRY as we were in that moment. (I have no problem admitting if I’m wrong, but I highly value my morals….) [Insert photo of Anger from "Inside Out" here!!!]

We were back in Worlds of Marvel tonight. Being a Marvel fan, I Ioved tonight just as much as the first night, even though the “show” wasn’t being presented. (Minus the overly-loud woman at the table next to ours.) The movie soundtracks were playing (perhaps a bit too loudly) and the screens showed the most beautiful concept artwork for both the movies and comics. (I’m sure these have to be in a book somewhere.) Again it was beautiful.

Tonight Kara ordered the shrimp appetizer, salad (with too much vinegar), and the beef with a Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bar for dessert. As a creature of habit, I ordered the exact same thing as the first night, except I added the Nano Torta. (Carlos informed me it’s actually the same as the Opera Cake on the Disney Fantasy! Luckily, this one was better as it was still thoroughly chilled.)

Again stuffed, we refilled our waters and headed back to the stateroom. While we’d discussed going to Villians Game Nite, 2000s Music Trivia, and/or watching Wreck-It Ralph on Funnel Vision, Kara had been feeling worse as the day progressed, so we decided to just have an early, quiet evening. As I blogged, Kara put “Avengers: Age of Ultron” on On-Demand, which both of us can easily mimic the dialogue.

Tomorrow is finally(?) Disney Castaway Cay day. In another first, we plan to fully take advantage of the ship, while the majority of guests disembark.

P.S. As Kara drifted to sleep, I considered how she was feeling. Additionally was the fact we had a late afternoon return flight; we’d now be returning to Indiana Sunday night; and that I likely wouldn’t be getting to my home city until Monday morning and needing to go straight to my work. (UGH!) So I spontaneously booked us a day room at the Hyatt Regency in the Orlando airport for Sunday.
